She is in here and now, she wants to smoke because she likes to do it. Smoking is a demonstration of her own authority and freedom to be who she wants to be.
This painting is a combination of abstraction and portraiture using street art techniques to explore female beauty and identity. I embrace abstract painting as well as explorations of portrait realism as a way to discover what my true artistic sensibility is. I paint in oils on linen with a palette knife.
