Rather than painting them directly from observation, I began working from memory, allowing their forms to become exaggerated, fragmented and gradually absorbed into the surrounding abstraction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLayers of muted greens, dusty pinks, burgundy, turquoise and earthy neutrals are built up, scraped back and painted over. Some flowers remain recognizable, while others appear only as traces, creating the feeling of vegetation emerging from and disappearing back into the landscape.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe large scale gives the painting a physical presence.
