 About this artwork:

Into the Wild is part of a recent body of work created in the Western Cape, where vast landscapes and solitude have gradually influenced the way I paint.

Unlike my figurative works, this painting emerged without a predetermined destination. Layers of colour, marks, and forms were built intuitively over time, allowing the composition to reveal itself rather than forcing it into a fixed idea. The title reflects both the surrounding wilderness that inspires me daily and the creative freedom of stepping into the unknown.

Organic shapes, vibrant colour fields, and expressive gestures move across the canvas like fragments of a visual landscape—sometimes suggesting terrain, movement, weather, or memory, yet never settling into a single interpretation. The work invites the viewer to slow down, explore, and discover their own connections within it.

Into the Wild is a celebration of curiosity, experimentation, and the unexpected beauty that can emerge when we allow ourselves to venture beyond familiar paths.

My work lives at the intersection of bold pop culture and personal reflection. Through layered textures, iconic characters, and unexpected juxtapositions, I explore the contradictions of modern life — glamour and grit, success and satire, chaos and clarity. Much of my work reimagines familiar faces — from cartoon legends to luxury icons — not to glorify them, but to question them, twist them, and ultimately make them my own. Characters like Mr. Monopoly, Bugs Bunny, or Homer Simpson become vessels to talk about ambition, abundance, and the absurdity of our times. It’s all pop — but it’s also deeply personal.

At the heart of it, I believe in art as transformation. I believe in creativity not just as a medium, but as a way of life — to shift perspective, to provoke thought, and to connect.
