About the Artwork:
Scrooge Master Your Mind is an original 85 × 85 cm Pop Art painting by contemporary artist Kristin Kossi, exploring a different side of success: inner peace, clarity and the ability to master your own mind.
Scrooge McDuck sits quietly in meditation, eyes closed and his signature top hat placed beside him. Behind him stands an elegant white villa with a classic Porsche parked outside, familiar symbols of achievement and material success. Yet for once, Scrooge’s attention is not on any of them.
Above him, the words “Master Your Mind and Master the World” shift the focus from external success to inner control. A dollar bill marked “Peace of Mind” adds an ironic twist: perhaps the most valuable currency is the one money cannot simply buy.
Across the foreground, the large translucent word “HEALING” floats lightly through the composition, contrasting the material symbols surrounding Scrooge with a quieter and more personal form of wealth.
Kossi uses one of Pop Art’s most recognizable symbols of money to ask what happens when the pursuit of success becomes still. The villa is built. The Porsche is parked. The money is there. And Scrooge closes his eyes.
Because mastering the world means little if you cannot master your own mind.

My work explores freedom in its many forms through pop culture, ambition, nature and the choices that shape the way we live. In my Pop Art, familiar characters and cultural symbols become a language for exploring success, money, love, independence and the contradictions of contemporary life. Icons such as Scrooge McDuck, Mr. Monopoly, Bugs Bunny and Homer Simpson are removed from their familiar narratives and placed into new ones sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative, but always reflecting something about the world we live in and what we choose to value. Alongside this, my abstract work has evolved through a closer connection to nature. Living and working between wild landscapes in South Africa has shifted my perspective from the symbols of success toward something more elemental — land, time, movement, solitude and the freedom that comes from living closer to nature. What connects these seemingly different bodies of work is a continuing search for freedom. Freedom to succeed. Freedom to question. Freedom to change. And ultimately, freedom to live life on your own terms. I believe art can shift perspective. For me, creativity is not only a way of making images, but a way of understanding life — and continually redefining what truly matters.
