About the Artwork:
Still Becoming is an intuitive abstract work created without planning or predefined outcome a reflection of a moment in motion.
Layers of muted pastels, softened greys, and raw earthy tones are built up and partially erased, revealing traces of what was and what is still forming. Gestural brushstrokes, scraped surfaces, and translucent washes create a sense of movement held in suspension as if the painting is pausing mid-transformation.
Hints of deeper reds and a subtle neon accent cut through the calm, introducing tension, vitality, and presence. These contrasts speak to inner shifts: the quiet pressure of growth, the in-between phase where clarity hasn’t arrived yet, but change is already underway.
Working on paper allows the process to remain intimate and immediate. Every mark is intentional in its instinct, capturing a state of becoming rather than a finished conclusion.

My work explores freedom in its many forms through pop culture, ambition, nature and the choices that shape the way we live. In my Pop Art, familiar characters and cultural symbols become a language for exploring success, money, love, independence and the contradictions of contemporary life. Icons such as Scrooge McDuck, Mr. Monopoly, Bugs Bunny and Homer Simpson are removed from their familiar narratives and placed into new ones sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative, but always reflecting something about the world we live in and what we choose to value. Alongside this, my abstract work has evolved through a closer connection to nature. Living and working between wild landscapes in South Africa has shifted my perspective from the symbols of success toward something more elemental — land, time, movement, solitude and the freedom that comes from living closer to nature. What connects these seemingly different bodies of work is a continuing search for freedom. Freedom to succeed. Freedom to question. Freedom to change. And ultimately, freedom to live life on your own terms. I believe art can shift perspective. For me, creativity is not only a way of making images, but a way of understanding life — and continually redefining what truly matters.
