Some moments in nature cannot be captured in a photograph. They can only be felt.
Where Light Settles explores the quiet space where wilderness, light and memory become one. Layers of translucent colour, expressive brushwork and delicate oil stick markings dissolve into one another, creating a landscape that continuously shifts before the viewer's eyes. One moment it resembles a wild bloom, the next a drifting seed carried by the wind, then morning mist illuminated by the first light of day.
Created in my mountain studio in the Western Cape of South Africa, this painting reflects the profound influence that living amongst untouched wilderness has had on my artistic practice. Rather than beginning with a predetermined composition, the work evolved intuitively over many weeks, allowing each layer to guide the next until the painting gradually revealed its own identity.
The luminous central form becomes a quiet presence within the composition—fragile yet resilient, inviting contemplation rather than demanding attention. Surrounded by deep forest greens, earthy tones and subtle traces of movement, it creates a dialogue between strength and vulnerability, darkness and light.
Rather than depicting a specific place, Where Light Settles captures a feeling: the fleeting moment when sunlight filters through dense vegetation, illuminating something delicate before disappearing again.
Richly layered with acrylic and expressive oil stick, the surface continues to reveal new forms and textures over time, rewarding slow observation and inviting each collector to form a deeply personal connection with the work.

My work lives at the intersection of bold pop culture and personal reflection. Much of my work reimagines familiar faces — from cartoon legends to luxury icons — not to glorify them, but to question them, twist them, and ultimately make them my own. Characters like Mr. Monopoly, Bugs Bunny, or Homer Simpson become vessels to talk about ambition, abundance, and the absurdity of our times. It’s all pop — but it’s also deeply personal.
At the heart of it, I believe in art as transformation. I believe in creativity not just as a medium, but as a way of life — to shift perspective, to provoke thought, and to connect.
